Football Recap: Litchfield/Mt. Olive Sets Scoring Season-High Against Carlinville

Litchfield/Mt. Olive extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They took a 48-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carlinville Cavaliers. On the bright side, the 35- point effort marked Litchfield/Mt. Olive's highest-scoring game to date.

Despite the loss, Litchfield/Mt. Olive still got an impressive performance from Ethan Saathoff, who rushed for 123 yards and one TD, and also threw for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Max Leitschuh was in the mix too, providing Litchfield/Mt. Olive with one score.

As for Carlinville, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Litchfield/Mt. Olive is ranked 420th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carlinville had a senior duo take command as Tate Duckels picked up 154 receiving yards and a pair of TDs and Kip Reels threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes. Duckels showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 60 yards.

Litchfield/Mt. Olive didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-21 defeat against Hillsboro on the 10th. As for Carlinville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 43-10 victory against Southwestern on the 10th.
