Softball Recap: Roosevelt Takes Down Ranked Sturgis Brown

Roosevelt faced Sturgis Brown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rough Riders came out on top against the Scoopers by a score of 9-4. Winning may never get old, but the Rough Riders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Vanessa Kiggins and Avery Willis did most of the damage at the plate: Kiggins went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Willis went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave Kiggins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Drew, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Sturgis Brown, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Roosevelt will take on rival Spearfish at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sturgis Brown is set to square off against their familiar foe Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
