Basketball Recap: Summit's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Sunday

Summit saw some tournament action on Sunday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 56-37 win over the Sunset Apollos. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Apollos are ranked 169th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Summit has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Sunset, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Summit didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-45 victory against Mountainside on the 23rd. As for Sunset, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Ridgeview at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
