Basketball Recap: Haylee Ray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Martin De Porres over Bedford

If St. Martin de Porres was feeling good fresh off their 53-32 takedown of Horizon Science Academy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Martin de Porres Lions received a blow on Sunday as they fell 46-31 to the Bedford Bearcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 54-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

St. Martin de Porres' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haylee Ray, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Ray a new career-high. Alayah Coleman was another key player, putting up seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
