Softball Recap: Butler Takes a Loss

If Butler was feeling good fresh off their 21-2 takedown of Garinger last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Providence Panthers by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.

Cherie Carter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Butler's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Providence, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1.

Looking ahead, Butler will host Parkwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolf Pack have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Providence, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence Panthers duke it out with Union Academy Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Union Academy will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
