Baseball Recap: Northern Victorious

Northern barely beat Arundel the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Northern blew past Arundel 19-6 on Saturday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Northern got a great performance from Nick Barsczewski as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Barsczewski a new career-high.

At the plate, Dylan Rice was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Holson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Northern's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Arundel, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Northern is taking a road trip to face off against Patuxent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Arundel, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Arundel Wildcats face off against Chesapeake Cougars at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
