Soccer Game Preview: Corning vs. Orland

The Corning Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Orland Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corning is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Corning took on Oroville on Thursday. Corning blew past Oroville 3-0. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Tigers are ranked 1117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Osbaldo Flores and Jorge Herrera scored all three of Corning's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 25 goals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Orland was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Las Plumas by a score of 1-0.

The victory was the third in a row for Corning, bringing their record for this year to 13-1-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Orland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-3.
