Softball Game Preview: Pepin/Alma Eagles vs. Ellsworth Panthers

The Pepin/Alma Eagles will face off against the Ellsworth Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Pepin/Alma's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Cochrane-Fountain City as they made off with a 10-0 win. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season.

Pepin/Alma's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Marcks, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Ellsworth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Croix Central, sneaking past 13-11. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Ellsworth.

Stella Deml spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and six unearned) runs on 14 hits.

At the plate, Ellsworth got a massive performance out of Alivia Maher, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Maher a new career-high. Brinklee Graetz was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Ellsworth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.

Ellsworth's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Pepin/Alma, their win bumped their record up to 7-11.
