Football Recap: Southwestern Randolph Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Southwestern Randolph can now relate to. They were beaten by the Eastern Wayne Warriors 49-0 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Eastern Wayne's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Izeiah Oates, who threw for 184 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 75 yards on only eight carries. Oates also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending one pass. Tykel Battle was another key back, gaining 86 total yards and three touchdowns.

With the defeat, Southwestern Randolph broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4. As for Eastern Wayne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Southwestern Randolph does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eastern Wayne, they will venture away from home to take on Reidsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 31 points in their last eight games.
