Volleyball Recap: West Campus Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Coby Nguyen and Jayden Saetern

West Campus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Foothill Mustangs. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

West Campus actually scored more points across those five sets (103-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-18, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13.

West Campus' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Saetern, who had ten digs and two aces, and Coby Nguyen, who had 17 assists. Those 17 assists gave Nguyen a new career-high.

West Campus' defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Foothill, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

West Campus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against El Dorado on the 15th. As for Foothill, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Johnson on the 18th.
