Basketball Recap: Putnam Comes Up Short

Putnam was the 64-62 winner over Canby when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Putnam Kingsmen took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canby Cougars.

Canby's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Taggart, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Taggart a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Lawson, who went 8 for 13 en route to 16 points and five boards.

Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Canby, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-6.

Putnam wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-52 win against Hood River Valley on the 24th. As for Canby, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-57 loss against Wilsonville on the 23rd.
