Keenan Smith of Fremont ran for the longest rushing play in El Camino this season against Homestead last week. Smith ran for 92 yards on the play and finished with 189 on the day as his team beat the Mustangs.
Fremont moved up to 532 from 742 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Ron Demonner's team climbed the ranks as a result of a 33-32 win over Homestead.
The Firebirds' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ricky Teo threw for 159 and one touchdown and Joeseph De Los Santos had 58 yards receiving. Onosai Sataua helped Fremont's passing attack out by catching two balls for 57 yards.
Harker's Spenser Quash and Robert Deng have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Quash has thrown for 674 yards this season, while Deng has 16 catches for 282 yards. Smith from Fremont leads the league in rushing with 421 yards.
A big matchup in El Camino this week will be when the Firebirds take on Monta Vista. Fremont is currently in second, while the Matadors are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Cupertino takes on the Eagles. The Pioneers have allowed 73 points this season, while Harker has given up 83. Cupertino allowed 19 points last week as it bested Overfelt.
Chris Oswald 's team extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Royals, 42-19. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
