Baseball Recap: Elgin Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northmor, Elgin was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the North Baltimore Tigers. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cam Elswick looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Elgin is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Peyton Zempter was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Evan James was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The victory got Elgin back to even at 10-10. As for North Baltimore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Elgin will take on Buckeye Central at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bucks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.85 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of. North Baltimore has already played their next game (against McComb), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
