For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Washburn Rural and Emporia meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Blues came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the Blues, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Washburn Rural easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-17.

Washburn Rural's win bumped their record up to 12-4-4. As for Emporia, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11.

Looking ahead, Washburn Rural will square off against Manhattan on Saturday. As for Emporia, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Junction City on the 4th.
