Basketball Recap: Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Rigo Navez and Xavier Galvan

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy Lions, falling 65-41. The Ocelotls were down 47-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's loss came despite strong showings from Xavier Galvan and Rigo Navez. Galvan posted 22 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Navez had 13 points. Fernando Gurrola-Murillo also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Jackson Taylor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy. The dominant performance also gave Taylor a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Jamar Yelverton, who earned seven points in addition to ten boards and five steals.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy, their record is now 4-12.

Rocky Mountain Prep SMART didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-33 defeat against DSST: Green Valley Ranch on the 6th. As for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-60 victory against KIPP Denver Collegiate on the 6th.
