Softball Recap: River City Comes Up Short

River City had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-18 to make it five. They lost 11-1 to the Franklin Wildcats. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

River City saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Sauceda, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Franklin, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-10-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

On Franklin's side, Leilani Garcia looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Garcia has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micayla Arlotto, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalani Phearson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, River City will challenge Pioneer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Franklin, they will take on Laguna Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
