Football Recap: Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) vs. Canyon Lake Hawks
Uvalde extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were dealt a 47-7 defeat at the hands of the Canyon Lake Hawks. If the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) were looking for revenge after losing 27-7 to the Hawks when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Jett Flores threw for 39 yards on two of 14 attempts. Diego Granados was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards.
As for Canyon Lake, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games.
Canyon Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Brown led the charge by rushing for 95 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Brown a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Wheeler, who threw for 203 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes.
Coincidentally, Uvalde and Canyon Lake will both be playing Davenport the next time they take the field. The Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will host the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Hawks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
