Softball Recap: Shepaug Valley Sets Scoring Season-High Against Terryville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shepaug Valley). Everything went their way against the Terryville Kangaroos on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-1 victory. Considering the Spartans have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cameron Tisi was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emma O'Dwyer was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with eight RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Hayden Fisher was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Shepaug Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in five consecutive games.

Shepaug Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Terryville, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Shepaug Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Terryville, they will square off against Crosby at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
