Basketball Recap: Governor's School for Science & Math Starts Season with Victory Against Christ the Cornerstone Academy

Governor's School for Science & Math had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 53-39 win over the Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 62-48 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tommy Suchanek was nothing short of spectacular: he went 13-for-32 on his way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Neil Hancock, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Christ the Cornerstone Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bradley Hogan, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lance Truesdell, who scored eight points and ten boards.

Governor's School for Science & Math will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Great Falls at 7:30 p.m. on December 5. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, they have already played their next contest, a 71-31 victory against Liberty Christian Academy on the 17th.
