Softball Recap: Carondelet Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carondelet entered their tilt with Dougherty Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 back in March.

Maia Scholtens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Carondelet's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Joyal Colquitt, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Arielle Henriquez was another, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Carondelet pushed their record up to 11-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Dougherty Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Carondelet is set to face off against their familiar foe Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Dougherty Valley will square off against rival Livermore at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
