Baseball Recap: Talihina Extends Winning Streak to Four

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Talihina). Everything went their way against the Pocola Indians on Tuesday as Talihina made off with a 15-6 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Golden Tigers, who have now won four games in a row.

Landen Griffith and Cy Ammons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Griffith tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ammons tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Talihina is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Griffith scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Ammons got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Ammons has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nakaiah King, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he hit this season. Jake Sherer was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Talihina was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Talihina's record is now 6-3. As for Pocola, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Looking ahead, Talihina will challenge Rattan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Talihina's pitchers better be ready for this one: Rattan has averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Pocola, they will face off against Smithville at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
