Baseball Game Preview: Palatka Panthers vs. Interlachen Rams

Palatka is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Interlachen is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Panthers will host the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Palatka's tournament run continued when they took on Crescent City on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 11-1 win.

The team relied heavily on Joseph Solomon, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ryan Surrency was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Interlachen). They were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over Peniel Baptist Academy on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly ten runs.

Interlachen got a massive performance out of Devon Williams, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Williams has become a key player for the Rams: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Trace King, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Interlachen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive matches.

Palatka has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Interlachen, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Everything went Palatka's way against Interlachen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Palatka made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
