Baseball Recap: Indian Creek Takes a Loss

Indian Creek extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 19 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-18 in the process. They fell 10-5 to the Earlville Red Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Monday.

Indian Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Data, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Zakory Nelson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Earlville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.

On Earlville's side, the team relied heavily on Austin Todd, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Todd also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Aaden Browder was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coming up, Indian Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against Hinckley-Big Rock at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Earlville, they will venture away from home to take on South Beloit at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sobos have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
