Soccer Game Preview: Clinton vs. Tupelo

The Clinton Arrows will take on the Tupelo Golden Wave at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Clinton sitting on three straight victories and Tupelo on four.

Clinton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Germantown, who was ranked eighth at the time (Clinton was ranked third). Clinton's defense stepped up to hand Germantown a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Alex Holmes had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Arrows.

Meanwhile, Tupelo hadn't done well against Madison Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Tupelo narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Madison Central 2-1.

Clinton pushed their record up to 11-3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those eight matchups. As for Tupelo, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
