Volleyball Recap: Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Agawam, Central was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Putnam Vo-Tech Beavers with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Beavers: they've now won three in a row.

One reason for the win was Central's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-18, 25-16.

Xavier Lozada paced Central's offense, picking up 12 kills. Lozada got some help from Jovan Diaz and his 22 assists. Finally, Lozada was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Putnam Vo-Tech, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Central is set to square off against their familiar foe Belchertown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Putnam Vo-Tech will face off against rival Frontier Regional at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
