Softball Recap: Moses Lake Takes a Loss

Moses Lake dropped their record down to 12-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Eastmont Wildcats, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 15-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Lila Johnson and Hayden Morris stepped up to the plate in a big way. Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Morris went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Morris has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played.

As for Eastmont, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Eastmont's side, Brittany Howe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Howe was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Liz Fulbright was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bella Clinton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Moses Lake nor Eastmont have any future games scheduled.
