Baseball Game Preview: Dexter Southfield vs. Milton Academy Mustangs

Dexter Southfield is a perfect 3-0 against Milton Academy since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Dexter Southfield will venture away from home to square off against Milton Academy at 5:00 p.m. Dexter Southfield is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Dexter Southfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Winchendon, who was ranked 21st at the time (Dexter Southfield was ranked 24th). Dexter Southfield took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winchendon on Saturday.

Dexter Southfield got a good showing from Ryan Johnson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Johnson has become a key player for Dexter Southfield: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dexter Southfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Baroncelli, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Milton Academy). They walked away with a 13-9 victory over Rivers on Saturday. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Red Wings on their field since May 14, 2021.

Dexter Southfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Milton Academy, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went Dexter Southfield's way against Milton Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Dexter Southfield made off with a 9-2 victory.
