Volleyball Game Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Amphitheater Panthers

The Sahuarita Mustangs will face off against the Amphitheater Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Sahuarita came up short against Mica Mountain on Monday, falling 3-0. The Mustangs have struggled against the Thunderbolts recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

While Sahuarita ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Amphitheater was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Cholla. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chargers 25-16 in the first set.

Amphitheater actually scored more points across those five sets (102-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 17-25, 15-10.

Amphitheater's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Sahuarita, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
