Basketball Recap: Breathitt County Comes Up Short

Breathitt County suffered their closest defeat since February 23, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Cabell Midland Knights by a score of 58-55.

Coleson Christus was a one-man wrecking crew for Cabell Midland as he dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Those 21 points gave Christus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samuel Phillips, who posted ten points.

Breathitt County's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Cabell Midland, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Looking ahead, Breathitt County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pike County Central at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Breathitt County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Pike County Central likes a good challenge. As for Cabell Midland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Capital at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cabell Midland is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.
