Basketball Recap: Bryce Wilcox's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwood over Madison-Grant

Southwood's game on Saturday was all tied up 32-32 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 63-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison-Grant Argylls. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Argylls apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Southwood's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Wilcox, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Wilcox now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage. Emery Liddick was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Southwood's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Madison-Grant, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood will host Adams Central at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison-Grant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
