Recap: Apollo Hawks vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

The Apollo Hawks entered their tilt with the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Apollo enjoyed a cozy 67-53 victory over Sunrise Mountain on Monday. For Apollo, this counts as revenge for the 59-56 loss Sunrise Mountain walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Apollo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but DeQuean Bryant led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five assists and two blocks. Bryant's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah White, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Sunrise Mountain still got an impressive performance from Caden Hammond, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Trey Hill was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Apollo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Sunrise Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Willow Canyon the next time they take the court. Sunrise Mountain will host Willow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Apollo will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
