Basketball Recap: Xandria Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rivera over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rivera can now relate to. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North. If Rivera was looking for revenge after losing 36-27 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rivera's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xandria Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 18 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lorraine Perez, who posted ten points.

Rivera's defeat dropped their record down to 25-15. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-10 record this season.

Rivera does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-42 loss against Flour Bluff on the 13th.
