Basketball Recap: Gloria Deo Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Gloria Deo Academy entered their tilt with Jefferson Independent Day on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers.

Despite the defeat, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Twiss went 10 of 15 en route to 26 points and three steals. That was a full 52% of Jefferson Independent Day's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohl Thurman, who put up six points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

The win got Gloria Deo Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Jefferson Independent Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-8.

Gloria Deo Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they will challenge New Heights Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in New Heights Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.
