Basketball Game Preview: Swainsboro Tigers vs. Vidalia Indians

Two dominant guards in Tonia Ricks and Hannah Nichols are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Swainsboro Tigers will take on the Vidalia Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Swainsboro beat St. Vincent's 49-41.

Meanwhile, Vidalia waltzed into their match on Friday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 56-46.

Vidalia's win came from a few key players Swainsboro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tori Polke, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Takaiyah Bacon, who posted eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Vidalia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 55 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Vidalia's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points over those games. As for Swainsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Swainsboro came up short against Vidalia in their previous meeting on Thursday, falling 60-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nichols, who went 8-for-14 on her way to 21 points in addition to six boards and six steals.
