Basketball Recap: Turner Comes Up Short

Turner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They were dealt a 72-29 loss at the hands of the Wakeland Wolverines. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 874th, while the Wolverines are ranked 176th).

Turner's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Matthew Stone, who posted eight points and five rebounds, and Sahil Anand, who earned five points.

Turner's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Wakeland, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Turner Lions take on the The Colony Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Wakeland, they will face off against Reedy at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
