Basketball Recap: Paramount Comes Up Short

Paramount was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 57-47 to the Norwalk Lancers. The Pirates were probably out for revenge after losing 48-35 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Norwalk was led to victory by Andruw Castellanos and Jesus Sanchez. Castellanos went 7 of 16 on his way to 26 points and eight boards, while Sanchez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. Castellanos' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Aaron Reyes also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Paramount's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Norwalk, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Paramount didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-57 loss against Marquez on the 18th. As for Norwalk, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Firebaugh at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Norwalk is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season.
