Basketball Game Preview: McKinley Bulldogs vs. Green Bulldogs

The McKinley Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Green Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

McKinley took a loss when they played away from home on Sunday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Perry 60-58. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Panthers are ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McKinley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaylen Jeter out in front who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Chavers, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Green scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 66-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 16-11 in the first quarter.

McKinley's victory bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Green, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for McKinley against Green in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured an 81-52 win. In that matchup, McKinley amassed a halftime lead of 44-24, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
