Basketball Recap: Lower Richland Takes a Loss

Lower Richland was the 43-41 winner over Lakewood when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets fell 64-55 to the Lakewood Gators on Tuesday. The Diamond Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lakewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pop Cato, who posted 15 points and six steals. The matchup was Cato's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darius Franklin, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Lower Richland's record is now 3-10. As for Lakewood, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lower Richland will venture away from home to square off against South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they will face off against Hartsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood is facing Hartsville at the right time seeing as Hartsville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
