Softball Recap: South Pemiscot's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Pemiscot waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Holcomb Hornets. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Phoenix Simmons made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Simmons was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Ayleighonna Farmer was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Gonzalez, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

South Pemiscot always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holcomb only posted an OBP of .318.

South Pemiscot's win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, South Pemiscot will challenge Campbell at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Holcomb, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Portageville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Holcomb's pitchers better be ready for this one: Portageville has averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
