Basketball Game Preview: Brashear Tigers vs. Marion County Mustangs

The Brashear Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Marion County Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Brashear took a blow against Green City, falling 74-46. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while the Gophers are ranked 80th).

Meanwhile, Marion County waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 70-57 victory over the Hornets.

Brashear dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Marion County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Brashear strolled past Marion County in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 68-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brashear since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
