Edcouch-Elsa beats Mercedes for their second straight win

Recap: Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets vs. Mercedes Tigers
Even though The Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets have not done well against the Mercedes Tigers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Edcouch-Elsa walked away with a 28-19 victory over Mercedes. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Edcouch-Elsa.
Edcouch-Elsa got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elijah Trevino out in front who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Jayreed Amaya, who picked up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Edcouch-Elsa's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Mercedes, their loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edcouch-Elsa will challenge Valley View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mercedes, they will head out on the road to face off against Porter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Porter is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
