Basketball Recap: Salem Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Salem unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Hartford Central Tanagers on Monday, falling 58-37. The Generals have struggled against the Tanagers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Salem's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinten Rushinski, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jack Sweenor, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will welcome Warrensburg at 7:00 p.m. on the 9th. As for Hartford Central, they will face off against Berlin/New Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
