Baseball Recap: Chattanooga Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against Meigs County

Chattanooga Central scored the most runs they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Meigs County Tigers. The Pounders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Landon Varnell stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Jones, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Chattanooga Central's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Meigs County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chattanooga Central will host Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pounders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Meigs County, they will be playing at home against Red Bank at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
