Baseball Recap: Wister Picks Up 16th Straight Win at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wister). Everything went their way against the Panama Razorbacks on Thursday as they made off with a 17-10 win. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.

The team relied heavily on Torben Vocque, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Turnipseed, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Wister was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panama only posted a batting average of .259.

Wister pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Panama, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.

Coming up, Wister will take on Wilburton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Diggers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Panama, they will face off against Quinton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
