Softball Game Preview: Sparta Bulldogs vs. Marissa Meteors

The Sparta Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Marissa Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Sparta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Sparta came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Red Bud, falling 6-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Sparta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Marissa came out on top against Woodlawn back in April thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run sixth inning. The Meteors blew past the Cardinals 21-3.

Sparta has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Marissa, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
