Vail Mountain picks up third straight win on the road

Recap: Vail Mountain Gore Rangers vs. Middle Park Panthers

The Vail Mountain Gore Rangers waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-41 win over Middle Park. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Vail Mountain was the better team in the second half.

Vail Mountain can attribute much of their success to Hunter Iverson, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Iverson has scored all season. Christian Mills was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Middle Park lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joey Gagnon. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with six steals. Gagnon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Weston Wiedel, who scored seven points along with three steals.

Vail Mountain pushed their record up to 5-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Middle Park, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Vail Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Battle Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Battle Mountain has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for Middle Park, they will be playing at home against Fort Lupton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
