Baseball Game Preview: Cissna Park Timberwolves vs. Schlarman Hilltoppers

The Cissna Park Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Schlarman Hilltoppers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Schlarman took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cissna Park, who comes in off a win.

Cissna Park was handed a 21-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out South Newton 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Timberwolves have posted since May 4, 2024.

Joah Henrichs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Walder, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. Ayden Hamrick was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Schlarman suffered their closest loss since April 22, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Cornerstone Christian by a score of 5-3. The Hilltoppers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Princeton Rush was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Liam Billings, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one double.

Schlarman's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cissna Park, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Cissna Park couldn't quite get it done against Schlarman in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Timberwolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
