Basketball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Melbourne Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to the Palm Bay Pirates at home by a 63-45 margin. The Hustlers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Palm Bay got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Newton out in front who went 7-for-10 en route to 15 points and seven steals. Newton is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. O'Ryan Woolestan was another key player, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Melbourne Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Palm Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Melbourne Central Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-48 defeat against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on the 29th. As for Palm Bay, they have also already played their next game, a 62-59 victory against Lake Howell on the 28th.
