Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Danbury's Winning Streak

Danbury and Mogadore squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Danbury had to settle for second. They fell 45-37 to the Mogadore Wildcats. The Lakers' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Danbury's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maci Brown, who posted five points and five rebounds. Brown has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 33 times she's played. Mia McDonald was another key player, putting up nine points and eight boards.

Mogadore got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ari Tompkins out in front who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amelia Morris, who scored ten points and five boards.

Danbury's defeat dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Mogadore, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.

Danbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now. We've got a battle between Wildcats coming up. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Waterford sitting on 15 straight victories and Mogadore on six.
