Recap: University Trojans vs. Irvine Vaqueros
The University Trojans lost against the Irvine Vaqueros back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. University fell to Irvine 56-52. University has struggled against Irvine recently, as their matchup on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
University lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shervin Moarrefian, who scored 15 points. The match was Moarrefian's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christian Debarge, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
University has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Irvine, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University will take on Laguna Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Laguna Hills is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Irvine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodbridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Irvine in California (Woodbridge is ranked 110th, while Irvine is ranked 431st).
